Introduction

Hello people,

If, like me, you're sick of these "my rights" videos on Facebook where citizens are largely arguing with Police in the USA and "asserting their rights", you will probably have realised that this doesn't work in Australia.

This is not an attack on the Police in NSW, who, for the most part, have one hell of a difficult job to do but they don't always get it right. And neither do the general public.

The biggest issue is they tend to apply US Police Videos to Australia, such as constitutional rights - which we in Australia do not have at all. About the only "right" we have is the right to remain silent, and the issue with that is those who should avail themselves of that right are the ones who ignore it mostly.

The purpose of this site is to address some of the common misconceptions of what your rights are when interacting with the Police, what they can and cannot ask you to do, and what will happen if you try to force things.

Let me know if there is anything specifically you want addressed and I'll do my best.
